Extra Play 2012

Burlingame, Foster City, San Mateo, and Redwood City, are pleased to announce its continued participation in the AYSO EXTRA Program in 2012 Belmont, Half Moon Bay, Hillsborough, and San Carlos players are encouraged to attend assessments as well (see below)

What

AYSO Extra is a competitive soccer program designed to provide a more challenging level of play for those players who possess the appropriate interest, skills and abilities and to enhance each player's experience and individual growth through the game of soccer while retaining the spirit, organization and six philosophies of AYSO:

  1. Everyone Plays (3/4 play)
  2. Balanced Teams (balanced through competitive bracketing)
  3. Open Registration
  4. Positive Coaching
  5. Good Sportsmanship
  6. Player Development

When

Games are played Sunday’s. Players can choose to only play on Sunday’s with the Extra Team, but they can also choose to play on both the Extra team and their regular team on Saturday’s.

Registration/Cost

Please go through the standard registration process if you are interested in playing Extra. The only additional step is to sign-up for an assessment date at the Extra Table at registration. If you decide to only play Extra on Sunday's the cost is the same as if you were playing just on Saturday ($115). If you play on both days there will be a cost of the uniforms for the Extra team (~$40).

Mandatory Assessments

To participate in the EXTRA program, all players must attend one of the three tryouts listed below and be registered in your local region. You may attend any of the three tryouts (not just the one in your area).

Please signup for the assessments with your local region during registration.

Participating regions in Area 2N are: Burlingame, Foster City, San Mateo, and Redwood City. Players in Belmont, Half Moon Bay, Hillsborough, and San Carlos are encouraged to attend the assessments and will be placed on wait lists to play with neighboring regions. Players will receive a copy of their individual assessment at the end of their section. Team selections will be made in mid July. All assessment participants will be contacted.

Assessment Dates

  • Sunday May 20, 2012 Redwood City, Bechet Field (Red Morton Community Park)
  • Saturday June 2, 2012 Foster City, Sea Cloud Park, Field S3
  • Saturday June 16, 2012 Burlingame, Murray Field (Burlingame Golf Center)
  • 9:00AM U10 Boys and Girls
  • 10:00AM U12 Boys and Girls
  • 11:00AM U14 Boys and Girls

Players should arrive at least 15 minutes before their start time to check in and be ready to begin. Players should have a water bottle, and be dressed for soccer (Shirt, Shorts, Shin Guards, Socks, and Shoes/Cleats).
