USSF/AYSO Cross-Certification - 2011 (Last updated 3/30/12)
Cross-certification is available to referees of AYSO and USSF who have been certified as referees for six months or more and who are not certified with both organizations. All games officiated for AYSO or USSF may be applied toward the certification requirements of either AYSO or USSF. The diagonal system of control is the only recognized system of control.
Important note: You may only cross-certify ONCE. It is strongly suggested that AYSO referees with a Regional badge who wish to become USSF certified, complete their Intermediate AYSO certification first and then cross-certify rather than taking a USSF grade 8 course.
USSF to AYSO
If you are a current USSF referee (Grade 8 or higher) who wants to become an AYSO certified referee you need to complete the following steps:
- Fill out the AYSO/USSF cross-certification agreement.
- Have the cross-certification form signed by your USSF State Referee Administrator (see the California North Referee website for the latest contact information in our area). You should include a self addressed stamped envelope if you want to get the form back in an expeditious manner.
- Go online to eAYSO and sign up as an AYSO volunteer. Print out two copies of your volunteer form and sign them.
- Turn in the volunteer forms to your region's CVPA (for Redwood City CA, contact AYSO Region 1).
