California Law AB 506 that took effect on January 1, 2022 added Youth Services Organizations to the list of organizations whose volunteers and staff must complete training in child abuse and neglect reporting (SafeSport) and undergo LiveScan background checks to include a fingerprint check.
There is no escaping it. We have to do it, and we are doing it so that we maximize the protection of our youth soccer players.
Note:
Youth volunteers do not need to be fingerprinted (under 18 years of age)Options
There are two options on how to get the fingerprinting done. Always keep in mind that in addition to getting fingerprinted, you need to be sure that the results of your fingerprint check are delivered to AYSO. By following the procedure below you will ensure that this happens. If you go to a LiveScan facility directly and without pre-registering, your results may not make it to AYSO.
1. Sign up for and attend an AYSO Sponsored Event ($20 cost)
2. Find and register to go in to a LiveScan facility nearby ($25 cost)
Fortunately either way you will use the following link:
https://www.applicantservices.com/AYSOAfter getting your email confirmation code, the first question asked is for your "AYSO Region" -
we are Region 1 of Section 2 Area N, so "2N1" Fill in the applicant information including email and cell #.
The next steps in the process are self explained. Whether you book a livescan facility directly or a sponsored event, be sure to bring the QR code (show the email or print it out and bring it) and whatever forms of ID you need and which are explained in the video.
