How to check your training and certifications status
Introduction
As volunteers around children as well as covered by AYSO policies and insurance, we are asked (required) to obtain training, and get background checked and fingerprinted.
This page shows you how you can go in and check to see if you are up to date and current with all these requirements
Account - Volunteer Page
First thing to do is log in to ayso1.org and click on My Account. Then click on the Volunteer tab. It should bring up the screen as shown below
This page shows that my status is up to date. The only warning is that my "Risk Status" (e.g. Background Check) expires on 10/10/2023 (this screenshot was taken on August 31, 2023). But all the other referee-relevant statuses are "Compliant".
Here is what to do if any of these shows as expired or not compliant.
1. Background Check - Applies to Adult Referees only - Youth Referees do not need background checks
Check the checkbox to the left of "
Risk Status" and then click
Renew and Update. A popup will appear informing you to look for an email from Sterling Volunteers. Go to your inbox and then click on the link. That will take you into the Sterling Volunteers website within which you will provide information required for a background check.
2, 4, 5 - Safe Haven, Concussion and Sudden Cardiac Arrest (all referees)
These are AYSOU modules. Click on the
AYSOU button. When AYSOU (EtrainU) opens, open
Training Library then
Safe Haven. These modules are all available within the Safe Haven folder. Consult the
Training Matrix for more information. All referees must complete all three of these.
3. Fingerprinting - Applies to Adult Referees only - Youth Referees do not need to be fingerprinted
See the page "
How to get Fingerprinted" for more information
6. SafeSport - Applies to Adult Referees only - Youth Referees do not need to take SafeSport
Check the checkbox next to "SafeSport" and then click Renew and Update. This will take you to the SafeSport website to do SafeSport training.
7. Referee Grade
This indicates whether you have completed the referee training. For 8U, this would show "8U Official". Other referees should have one of "Regional Referee", "Intermediate Referee", "Advanced Referee" or "National Referee". If you believe you have completed your training, then contact the Referee Administrator (
[email protected]) to find out what is wrong. If you just finished your in person or online class recently, then it may take a couple of days.
